Government launches 2024 Women's month
The Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities (DWYPD) and the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC) will on Thursday, 1 August brief members of the media on the 2024 Women’s Month campaign. The briefing will be at the Ronnie Mamoepa Press Room, Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) in Pretoria.
The 2024 Women’s Month will be commemorated under the theme “Celebrating 30 Years of Freedom Towards Women’s Development” This year Women’s Month campaign will take stock of progress made on socio-economic empowerment of women since the advent of democracy and indicate the achievements of the Women Charter. This session will outline and unpack overall plans for this year’s Women’s Month campaign.

Ziwe Lufefe & Tha Lo Lights are a dynamic collaboration that weaves together the essence of hip-hop, jazz, and African sounds.

Nal’ibali Trust and implementing partners, Mikhulu Trust, Sunshine Association, and Macmillan Education, launched the Siyafunda Community Learning Hubs project, a new early childhood development project aimed at enhancing school readiness in Umsunduzi Municipality, KwaZulu Natal. This initiative is supported by theUSAID to strengthen and build community support for early learning to ensure that more children aged 0-6 years old in the Msunduzi Municipality start primary school with the skills and knowledge they need to learn and thrive.

The Basadi in Music Awards (BIMA) internship program offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the vibrant world of music awards. This program, presented by the Creative Arts Directorate division of the Gauteng Department of Sports, Arts, Culture, and Recreation, is designed for passionate young women eager to develop their skills in various facets of event management and production.
Internship Programs Available:
1. Production Assistants
- Assist in the planning and execution of event logistics.
- Support the production team in coordinating technical elements and schedules.
- Gain experience in backstage operations and live event production.
2. Public Relations (PR)
- Help in crafting and distributing press releases.
- Assist with media outreach and managing press contacts.
- Support the PR team in developing strategies to enhance the event's public image.
3. Social Media
- Create and manage content across various social media platforms.
- Engage with the audience to increase awareness and excitement about BIMA.
- Monitor social media trends and analytics to optimize campaign performance.
4. Legal
- Assist the legal team with contract reviews and negotiations.
- Support the compliance efforts related to event regulations and intellectual property.
- Gain insight into the legal aspects of event management and the music industry.
5. Stage Manager
- Assist in coordinating stage activities and performer schedules.

FUNDING FOR HERITAGE PROJECTS – closing 30 August 2024
The National Heritage Council makes funding available to community initiatives that would ordinarily not have access loans from financial institutions. The funding is mainly to assist in starting and establishing a project that can in future have prospects of sustaining itself or attracting alternative funding from other donors.
Projects that have received funding would benefit more than just financial assistance from the NHC. The project leaders and participants would have exposure to formal project management skills, administration, reporting and accountability. The NHC believes that the skills in these various areas equip the projects with excellence and improved prospects to attract more funding and support.
